Practice Owner

Dr Bev Hirst

I am originally from West Yorkshire and qualified with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Newcastle, UK, in 2005. In 2008, I obtained membership to the Royal College of Surgeons, and in 2013, I furthered my knowledge of more advanced cases with a yearlong Advanced Restorative Dentistry Diploma. I moved to WA in 2013 and have practised in Kalgoorlie, Perth Hills and the Northern Suburbs. Since the beginning of 2018, I became a partner in Wanneroo Dental Centre, and in early 2022 became the sole practice owner. I particularly enjoy treating children, teenagers and people who ‘hate dentists’ (it usually doesn’t take very long to change this!) I am keen to help people prevent the need for dental treatment, and I will always endeavour to make sure that you understand the necessary treatment. In my free time, I enjoy body combat, walking my miniature schnauzer, going to antique and record fairs, seeing live music, and DJing at a Britpop/indie night.

Dentist

Dr Meike Stewart

I completed my studies at UWA in 2004. After graduating I moved east, and worked in Bundaberg for the Queensland Health Dept, treating members of the community. It was there I learned good fundamentals in removable prosthetics and extractions, and where I also met my husband who is a dental technician. We moved back to Perth in 2008, and put down roots in northern suburbs. We now have three children, and I’ve spent many years now working privately in the local area, valuing my time at work and at home equally. I consider it a privilege to work in the community close to home. I like to talk patients and get to know them, so that I can tailor treatment to an individual, and Wanneroo Dental Centre really allows me to connect with people. Outside of work I enjoy reading, gardening, spending time with my family and friends, and pottering around my house, or down the beach.

Dentist

Dr Rebecca Speakman

Rebecca grew up in Lancashire and spent some time living in the Gold Coast.

After graduating from Newcastle Dental School in the UK in 2021. Rebecca then worked in North Yorkshire till she moved to Perth in 2024.

Rebecca has a wealth of experience treating all ages and worked extensively with dental emergencies in the UK so although we always try to save teeth- she is very skilled and loves the process of taking them out!

She was a keen sports player growing up and still likes to keep fit and spend time outside. Beach walks have now replaced her hikes in the North Yorkshire Dales as her exercise of choice.

Rebecca is a calm and empathetic dentist and likes to offer a friendly face and relaxed environment to ensure even the most nervous of patients feel at ease.

We are so proud to have Rebecca join us and Dr Bev in particular is over the moon to have a fellow Newcastle UK graduate working at Wanneroo Dental Centre

Dentist

Dr Maddi Sheppard

I grew up in Wales and am very patriotic. In 2021, I graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Sheffield, UK. After graduating, I returned to Wales to work as a general dentist in the South Wales Valleys, where I gained much experience. I first visited Australia whilst travelling in 2024 and loved it so much that I decided to return.

I look forward to meeting patients and strive to make everyone feel happy, comfortable and confident during their visits to the dentist. I enjoy working with children and motivating and caring for patients to achieve their optimum dental health.

I have been part of a team that published papers that focused on sustainability in dentistry and how we can strive to make the dental world better for our environment.

As a new WA resident, I like to spend my spare time at the beach, trying to improve my surfing skills and enjoying the company of friends over dinner. I love dogs and will never turn down the opportunity to see a photo of your fur baby!

In 2015 I became a Dental Nurse here in Western Australia. People are my passion and being able to assist in making patients feel at ease and safe during their visits here puts a smile on my face. My role as Practice Manager is to ensure the smooth running of the clinical aspect of the practice. Alongside this I also ensure anyone joining our team are trained to the same high level in order for us to continue giving our patients optimal care. I am very blessed to be a part of the awesome team at Wanneroo Dental Centre, as when I am not nursing, I am at the front desk chatting up a storm with patients and having a laugh. Outside of work I enjoy fitness, spending time with loved ones and being a cat mum!

Front Office Manager

Ellie

I began as a dental nurse in 2015 in the Sunshine Coast Qld! In 2019, I moved to beautiful Western Australia and worked up north for a few years before returning to dental and joining the fantastic team here at Wanneroo Dental Centre in April 2021. Today, I work as the Front Office Manager, answering your calls and coordinating appointments and treatment plans that best accommodate you and the dentist whilst ensuring the smooth running of the clinical and all the endless paperwork! My background as a dental nurse means I am well equipped with the knowledge to answer your treatment questions and occasionally hop back into surgery to help assist the dentist. I enjoy creating a welcoming and warm environment for patients, having a chat, and helping keep things running smoothly! I don’t have any spare time, as I am also studying nursing at ECU!

Front Office Coordinator

Isla

After holding various administrative roles in the corporate sector, it has taken me many years to discover the amazing world of dentistry. My passion for people, helping others, and being organised makes my role as Front Office Coordinator the perfect fit for me. I wake up daily looking forward to the challenges this caring field brings. I moved to Western Australia from Victoria in 2019, and it has felt like home ever since. In my spare time, I enjoy attending my local cricket club, attending live music events, dining out, going to the gym, and having coffee with my friends afterwards. I also love taking my dog for walks with my partner and catching up with my kids.

I’m looking forward to meeting you at your next visit to WDC!

My passion for healthcare and science has inspired me to further my education, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Forensic and Biomedical Sciences at Murdoch University.

I am excited about the opportunity to go on exchange to Canada for a semester, where I hope to build new connections and experience the unique Canadian winter. Outside of work and studies, I enjoy spending time with friends and staying active by going to the gym.
